Angel Tits (12')

‘Angel Tits’ is the debut EP from UK drums, guitar and laptop trio Spitting Cobra. Combining elements of noise, psych, electronica, lo-fi and post-rock the four tracks were recorded live in the studio in one day, capturing the rawness and angularity of the band’s live performances. Formed at a Wolf Eyes and Haswell Hecker gig in Barcelona by drummer Sam Wiehl (Mugstar’s resident AV artist, Eyes, Rhys Chatham Guitar Trio) and Robert Strachan (a sound artist whose recent collaborations include the dark ambient Mountain album/DVD with Anni Hogan for Cold Spring, Yann Marussich’s Ars Electronica winning Bleu Remix and field recordings for Machinefabriek’s Fabriek Bakker Fabriek project) the original idea of the band was to combine disparate influences (from Shellac and Slint to PanSonic and Fennesz) in order to create the one of the loudest live experiences in the UK. The addition of deep bass guitar tones and doom laden riffs from Dave Hand (Black Octagon, Red Panda) went on to complete what is developing into a genuinely experimental and unique avant-rock sound. Working at the intersection between digital and analogue, structure and improvised noise, jarring frequencies and fragile harmonies, the sublime and the abject, between brutal rhythmic insistence and deep texture, ‘Angel Tits’ presents a soundworld that is equal parts beautiful, challenging and exhilarating.
